Eastbay Case Study for Entrepreneurs: Inspiring Stories
Eastbay is a company with an inspiring story for any entrepreneur. They sell shoes and sports apparel. Many times we hear about the ultimate success of a company but never the humble beginnings. Many, who have not started a business from scratch with a piece of paper and a pencil have no idea how much hard work it is. I wrote up a page about their story and background here. I also focused this podcast on the story as well.
Two friends started their shoe business, running shoes, with their love of sports and passion for running. Fast forward years later they went public and that public company sold. It is still thriving today. Take a listen to the show or visit the page about their background above.

Angies List Case Study for Entrepreneurs: Inspiring Company Story
Angies List is a company you have probably heard of. They provide a subscription based service to find contractors and health care providers which have been individually reviewed by those that have used their services. By the looks of their site and after using their service you will realize it is incredibly well thought out and simple to use. Obviously a subscription service with users can generate significant revenue. However, realize they did not start day one like this. The company was founded in 1995 by Angie Hicks and Bill Oesterle. I wrote up a page about their story and background here. I also focused this podcast on the story as well.
Inspiring Story
I like to discuss companies that have inspiring stories for entrepreneurs. Two individuals started Angie’s list and pounded the pavement door-to-door to obtain reviews and populate their site. Fast forward over 10 years later and they have a thriving well known service. When you see successful companies do not think you cannot do it also, look back at their beginnings and realize that usually they start with one or more people with the drive to do whatever it takes in order to make it successful. Take a listen to the show or visit the page about their background above. More about Angies List at Wikipedia.

CCS Sold in 2008 for $103 Million: Our podcast is meant to let those that are starting their own businesses, particularly online, understand that all business have to start somewhere. I personally have started a couple with a pen and a piece of paper. CCS is a company that was started in 1985 and ended up being sold most recently to a public company (Footlocker) for $103 Million. Read more about CCS here.
Learn more about a company starting out selling skateboards in 1985 sells for over $103 Million and was projected to do $80 million in revenue in 2009. Nothing short of impressive.

GoDaddy Super Bowl Commercial: Here is the Go Daddy Super Bowl Commercial with the latest godaddy girl. It is a teaser for the superbowl commercial that will air on Sunday. A new godaddy coupon for .co will be announced and provided here as a one week celebration of the new godaddy girl. Apparently she is a hollywood icon. I have no idea who that may be. I guess that is the point, one of two things you can learn from this godaddy build up of the advertisement to assure it is seen and highly anticipated.
* ! * Superbowl Special : $7.49 .CO Domains * ! *
SUPERCO – 75% off .CO domains [ Click this Link ]
* works on .COM also , use the coupon code “SUPERCO” at checkout
Two things they have done right. First they released a part of the ad before Sunday. Other companies have been releasing their entire commercial which sort of defeats the purpose of having the commercial debut during the big game. By release only part of the advertisement it leaves you wanting to see more. Which brings me to my second point, they leave a mystery. This leaves those that see the teaser advertisement online wanting to see the entire ad during the super bowl.
Amazing that this one company, unlike any other, has built up an anticipation of their advertisement during the super bowl. Here is the teaser.
